2003’s V Festival headliners, Coldplay scored two Grammies at the prestigious US awards ceremony last night. This follows hot on the heels of the Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers triple whammy at the Brits last Thursday, proving that V promoters continue to bring the biggest bands to the annual event. Both groups confirmed to exclusively headline the V Festival three weeks ago – the only English festival appearances for both acts this Summer!
The festival is once again taking place at its two spiritual homes at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire on 16th and 17th August 2003.
V Festival Director Bob Angus comments:
“Coldplay have grown massively since their early afternoon second stage spot at V2000, and it’s great to see them doing so well at the recent Grammy and Brits ceremonies. And with Red Hot Chili Peppers nabbing the Best International Group prize at the Brits, we’re really proud that the only English festival that will host both bands this Summer is V Festival.”
V Festival Director Simon Moran Comments:
“Once again we’ve booked the biggest bands for V, so we’re anticipating another sell-out. Coldplay are the biggest UK act at the moment, while The Red Hot Chili Peppers are arguably the biggest international act in the UK, which was proved at the Grammies and the Brits last week. It’s a testament to our booking policy that we’ll have both acts exclusive English festival appearances at V this year.”
Coldplay won Grammies for Best Alternative Album for ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ and Best Rock Performance by a Group for their track ‘In My Place’. At Last weeks Brits, The Red Hot Chili Peppers walked away with Best International Group, while Coldplay walked away with the awards for Best British Group and Best British Album.
Tickets will be on sale from Saturday 8th March on this site
