Mel C who until now was against any reunion plans recently announced she had come around to the idea, having said before that it would be impossible to recreate the magic of the moment first time around.
The Spice girls are planning live shows around the world including concerts in London Tokyo and Las Vegas, with a greatest hits album to also be released.
Halliwell, 34, likened the reunion to “organising a G8 summit”.
The tour will certainly be lucrative but Halliwell declared: “Money is not an issue. We’re doing this because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a Spice Girl again. Who would turn that down?
“For us, it’s about celebrating the past, and it’s about our fans. It’s really, really the right time. It was now or never.”
They repeatedly dodged questions about how much money they will make.
Mel C, 33, has spent the past few years vowing never to take part in a reunion.
“A girl’s allowed to change her mind,” she said today by way of explanation.
Tickets will be allocated by draws,to make it fair, they will randomly pick who gets to buy tickets.
The official website site states "This is a chance for you, our real fans to come and see us — the last chance to dance!"
Simon Fuller, and his 19 management company who were the brains behind their global dominance is also managing the comeback.
The Spice Girls are Emma Bunton, Mel Brown, Mel Chisholm, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell and they all had nicknames Baby Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Posh Spice and Ginger Spice.
The spice girls at the height of their fame had number ones hits on both sides of the atlantic selling over 55 million records and having a film also, and they had some of the biggest sponsorship deals in pop.
This Spice Girls reunion tour is expected to net each girl over £20 million pounds.
The band are billing this as a “farewell tour” and thank you to fans, with Halliwell declaring: “This is going to be a one-night stand.”
But industry insiders predict they will record an album of new material if their comeback provokes enough interest from fans.
VICTORIA BECKHAM agreed to join the Spice Girls for a reunion tour because she wanted to show her three children the true meaning of girl power - in motherhood.
"Imagine you got divorced and you've got back together with your ex-husband," Halliwell said, explaining how she felt about the reunion.
"She just appreciates the fact we've let her back in," joked Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham.
